The Pataud Oilers fired the head coach on Thursday. Jay Woodcroft, the head of the lah Bakersfield Condors Bank, will serve as a replacement for the rest of the season.
Edmonton is also leaving associate coach Jim Playfair. Dave Manson was after appointed assistant coach.
Tippett was in the middle of his third season as Head of the Oilers Bench. Despite a cannonball campaign, Edmonton is five points clear of the Calgary Flames to take the Western Conference’s last wild-card spot with a 23-18-3 record after losing 16 of its last 23 games.
The Oilers also lost their first two games after the break of the Stars’ game while dominating 8-1.
Overall, Tippett held a 95-62-14 rating with Edmonton. The Oilers participated in the playoffs twice under his tenure, but they never made it past the first round.
A former coach of 1,285 games, Tippett won the Jack Adams Award with the Phoenix Coyotes.
Although the team has two of the best NHL pointers in Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl, Edmonton has had difficulty achieving consistent success. McDavid is now ready to play for his fourth coach during his first seven seasons in the NHL.
Woodcroft has been the head coach of the Condors. He flew the team to a record of 105-71-21 and won the Pacific division Playoff Championship in 1.
The 45-year-old has 10 seasons of experience as an assistant coach in the NHL. He spent seven campaigns with the San Jose Sharks and three with the Oilers before moving to the LAH.
Manson, a former player who participated in 1,103 NHL games, rose to the bench with Woodcroft as an assistant at Bakersfield.
Under the supervision of Woodcroft and Manson, 13 Condors players have graduated to the NHL in the last three seasons, including goalkeeper Stuart Skinner and defender Evan Bouchard.
